Default Project - kids first car

Working on a daily driver for my 16 year old. Mainly it will consist of an auto trans swap and a lot of body repair

Start with a well built 90 Comanche

New bumper, mirrors and some rubicon wheels and tires

New floor pans to fix the holes in the floors

I've got a line on a perfect bed and a pretty good bed to use as a replacement - just need to see what the checkbook allows

I wish I had a nicely built rig for my first car. All I got was a nice looking cherokee and had to do the rest myself.

My first car was a chevette, and it cost more than I have into this one.

Sounds like a good plan; neat truck to start with too.

I'm gonna make my son build his first car also. I'll help of course =^.^=

My first veicle was a '58 Dodge 1/2 ton, that needed a whole lot of work to be street legal/safe. Price was right, and with the help of my dad I had a good running tank to drive to school!!

I wouldn't say that. All my friends got new off the lot cars. I got a $3000 car.

To be honest I wanted to buy my first car myself. My mom suprised me.

Plus I have had to drop a good $1000 into it to get it going after a clogged rad., blown head gasket, and many other problems.

And while I was doing all that I had to find something to drive me to and from school. So another $800 out of my pocket to get a DD.

And my parents belive in not helping us out in the financial department. So most of this I paid for with my own money that I worked hard for. So I'm not spoiled. I'm far from it. I have been working since i was 14 and continue to support myself.

(Sorry for the interruption.)

I agree with your parents on the not helping out financially. My parents are the SAME way and i thank them for it! im not done with school BUT by them making me pay for EVERYTHING except health/dental insurance (since i'm a full time student) i feel made me "more responsible" As of this very min, I have NO loans of any kind... own 2 vehicles, paid out of pocket all my bills and schooling....

(Im not saying this to bash any parent that did or does help out their kids... just my $.02)

(Also, Sorry for the interruption.)
